Under Johansons uppväxt i Skara bodde familjen granne med Bert Karlsson. Johanson blev tidigt influerad av Rod Stewart genom musikvalet i hemmet och i senare år var även Kraftwerk, David Bowie, Zapp och Chet Baker influenser. Han började skapa egen musik i tonåren genom införskaffande av trum-maskiner och synthesizers. Efter studier på Katedralskolan flyttade han till Stockholm och började på en konstskola och sedermera skrev han på sitt första skivkontrakt med Sony BMG. Han har numer kontrakt med EMI.
