Simulium ornatum[11] är en tvåvingeart som först beskrevs av Johann Wilhelm Meigen 1818. Simulium ornatum ingår i släktet Simulium och familjen knott.[11][12][13] Arten är reproducerande i Sverige.[13] Inga underarter finns listade i Catalogue of Life.[11]
