Enligt Catalogue of Life[2][3] ingår Mycomicrothelia wallrothii i släktet Mycomicrothelia, och familjen Trypetheliaceae,[2][3] men enligt Dyntaxa[4] är tillhörigheten istället släktet Mycomicrothelia, och familjen Arthopyreniaceae.[4] Arten är reproducerande i Sverige.[4] Inga underarter finns listade i Catalogue of Life.[2]
