Cyrtochilum melanthes[1] är en orkidéart som först beskrevs av Heinrich Gustav Reichenbach och Josef Ritter von Rawicz Warszewicz, och fick sitt nu gällande namn av Friedrich Fritz Wilhelm Ludwig Kraenzlin. Cyrtochilum melanthes ingår i släktet Cyrtochilum, och familjen orkidéer.[2][3] Inga underarter finns listade i Catalogue of Life.[2]
