Melaspilea diplasiospora (Nyl.) Müll. Arg. Image location: Sintra, Portugal Very similar, just to not saying equal, to the specimen considered in observation 165057. The habitat is the bark of one of several different trees existing at the place. Microscopically also similar, the asci more elongated than those of Arthonia, clavate, with a characteristic long apical beak. The spores are a bit smaller than observed before and are of the so-called “sole-shaped”. Looking to the species given in the ref., there is just one species with similar spore dimensions: Melaspilea diplasiospora, which is said to be found parasitizing Graphis elegans, but here that is not the case, since it developed alone, directly on the bark, though sharing the habitat with other lichens, namely Graphis spp..
