The entire publication, including its photographs, was issued under Crown Copyright. Although copyright for the publication is dated at 2004, the Crown Copyright on the photographs starts from the date when they were taken. Trenchard died in 1956 and so this photograph is more than 50 years old which places it in the public domain.
