Caldecottmedaljen
Caldecottmedaljen (officiellt engelskt namn: Randolph Caldecott Medal; inofficiellt: Caldecott Medal) delas årligen ut av Association for Library Service to Children som i sin tur lyder under American Library Association (ALA). Medaljen tilldelas den författare/konstnär som skapat årets bilderbok för barn. Priset har fått sitt namn efter den engelske illustratören Randolph Caldecott.[1] Tillsammans med Newberymedaljen (Newbery Medal) och Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal är Caldecottmedaljen det mest prestigefyllda amerikanska barnbokspriset. Frederic G. Melcher föreslog 1937 skapande av ett andra pris efter Newberymedaljen eftersom många personer ansåg att illustratörerna som skapade bilderböcker för barn var lika förtjänta av ära och uppmuntran som författarna till barnböcker. Rene Paul Chambellan designade medaljens utformning 1937.[2]
